North Baltimore High School Boys Basketball improved to 14 – 3 overall and 7 – 1 in the BVC, with a league win over Arcadia and non-league wins over Lakota and Old Fort in four quick nights last week.

On Wednesday, at Lakota (2 – 15), the Tigers picked up the 72-52 win. Levi Gazarek led NB with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Julian Hagemyer hit a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds with 4 assists. Brady Rader and Tyler Durfey scored 10 points each. Chase Naugle scored 4 points with 4 assists. Adam Flores and Noah Cotterman also scored 4 points apiece. Austin Ogg hit a trey for 3 points.

Lakota                    8 13 16 15 — 52

In the Junior Varsity game North Baltimore won 66-61. But in the Freshman game Lakota won 49-21.


On Friday night in The Jungle, NB had little trouble getting past Arcadia (3-16, 1-8) 69 – 37, in a BVC game.

Levi Gazarek hit a game-high 21 points to lead NB in scoring. Tyler Durfey added 13 points. Brady Rader had 9 points and 7 rebounds. Adam Flores had 7 points and 7 steals. Noah Cotterman scored 2 points and had 4 steals. Chase Naugle had 7 points and 3 assists. Julian Hagemyer added 7 points. Cam Williams and Alex Snyder had 2 points each.

JV action saw North Baltimore with the win 39-26.


Finally, ending a stretch of 3 games in four nights, NB entertained Old Fort (10 – 8) in The Jungle, taking the non-league win 80 – 61.

Levi again led balanced NB in scoring with 22 points. Julian Hagemyer has another double – double with 14 points and 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Tyler Durfey had 14 points and Brady Rader added 11 points and 4 steals. Adam Flores scored 8 points, Chase Naugle 7 points, Noah Cotterman and Clayton Heineman scored a bucket each.

Old Fort won the JV game 55 – 36.

Next up for NB is AT Van Buren on Friday, Feb. 16, then at Upper Scioto Valley on Saturday the 17th. Then make-up games on Monday, Feb. 19, HOME non-league with New Riegel. Tuesday, Feb. 20, HOME, BVC game with Hopewell-Loudon. Then finishing off the regular season at home Friday, the 23rd, with Vanlue, for Senior Night.

NB has now won 6 in a row and have earned the #3 seed in the Findlay District of the upcoming OHSAA State Basketball Tournament. The Tigers will play the winner of Columbus Grove vs. Arcadia, at the Ottawa-Glandorf Sectional Championship, Friday, March 2, 8:00 pm.
