There will be a gospel sing at the Petro Iron Skillet banquet room on St. Rt. 18 at I – 75 on Sunday (Feb. 8)

Sunday Feb. 8, 2015 there will be a gospel sing at the Petro Iron Skillet banquet room on St. Rt. 18 at I – 75.

Singing will be The Northmen and Kathy.

The sing starts at 6 pm but you are welcome to come earlier and eat.

Tiger boys lose BVC game at Arlington

Arlington (8-7, 5-3 BVC) beat the North Baltimore Tiger Boys Basketball team 47-40 on Friday night, at Arlington, in Blanchard Valley Conference action.

Lane Bishop led NB (8-8, 4-4)  with 15 points and 3 steals; Chad Wright hit 8 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots; Levi Newcomer scored 7, Noah Brian 5, Sean Watson 4 points and 2 assits and Derek McMahan one point.

NB Boys JV beat Arlington in TRIPLE Overtime

The North Baltimore Junior Varsity Boys traveled to Arlington for a BVC game Feb. 16 and came away with an exciting win in triple overtime.

The North Baltimore Junior Varsity Boys traveled to Arlington for a BVC game Feb. 16 and came away with an exciting win in triple overtime.

NB JV never led the entire game.

The game is tied at 36 – 36 after 4 quarters, so in the first 3:00 overtime Arlington scored a 3 with 1:30 left in OT to take the lead 39 to 36.

With 1:00 left Brody Naugle hit a 3 pointer to tie it back up with .38 secs left. With the game tied at 39, Arlington turned the over with a travel violatoin with 9 secs left.

Then NB was called for a foul, on a pass inside to Noah. Arlington has a one and one and but misses the foul shot, and the first over time ends tied at 39.

In the 2nd OT Noah scored the 1st bucket putting NB up by 2 (41 – 39 NB).

NB eventually got the ball back with 1:30 left began to take time off the clock, but then shot the ball with 1:10 left and missed. Arlington got the rebound and went down and scored a 3 after their time out so now the score was 42-41 Arlington.

Arlington then fouled B. Naugle who made both foul shots and NB went back ahead by 1. Arlington took the ball down the court, shot and missed, NB rebounded and they fouled Cotterman who made 1 of the 2 foul shots to put NB ahead by 2.

Arlington took the ball down the court, NB fouled while they were shooting, and Arlington nailed both free throws to tie it up yet again. NB had 3.8 secs to take it down the court and score but missed the shot.

The game goes into triple OT – 44 all.

Arlington fouled Noah while shooting and Noah sank both free throws and NB leads by 2.

Arlington went down the court and missed their shot. NB rebounded.

Arlington fouled B Naugle who made 1 of the 2 foul shots missing the second and the ball went out of bounds off Arlington. NB is up by 3 now.

NB inbounds it and Coach Wright calls a TO.

NB inbounds the ball takes a shot and misses. Arlington takes it down the Court and NB fouls. Arlington missed the 1st foul shot then it went out of bounds off NB. With NB still ahead by 3 pts Arlington got the ball out of bounds with 1.8 secs left and didn’t even get a shot off so NB won by 3.

Final score:  NB – 47; Arlington – 45

Brody Naugle led all scoring with 17 points; Julian Hagemyer hit for 10 points;  Chase Naugle and Noah Cotterman each socred 9 points; Hunter Fleck added two points.

Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. to Participate in Love Letters Campaign for Area Older Adults

Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) will be participating in the Meals on Wheels Association’s ‘Love Letters’ program in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Tens of thousands of youth volunteers nation-wide are busy creating hand-crafted Valentine’s Day cards for older homebound individuals.

Bowling Green, OH (February 3, 2015) – Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) will be participating in the Meals on Wheels Association’s ‘Love Letters’ program in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Tens of thousands of youth volunteers nation-wide are busy creating hand-crafted Valentine’s Day cards for older homebound individuals.

The letters will be sent out to older homebound individuals in Wood County who receive home-delivered meals through WCCOA on Friday, February 13, 2015.

The campaign is designed to make the homebound individuals feel special, knowing that someone is thinking about them on Valentine’s Day.

“This is a great opportunity for our young people to show their appreciation for the older generation,” said Angie Bradford, Director of Food Service at the Wood County Committee on Aging. “The ‘Love Letters’ will mean so much to the homebound individuals.”

Lutheran Church News — St. Luke’s (NB) & St. John’s (McComb)

“Reign, Lord!” is Pastor Ralph Mineo’s sermon topic at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in North Baltimore on Sunday, February 8 at 10:15 a.m. The Junior Choir will sing an anthem “We’re Goin’ Fishin’” and the Youth Message will include Pastor Ralph’s rendition of the spiritual “Reign, Lord!” with the whole congregation joining in. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated as “Processional Communion.”

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, North Baltimore

On Saturday, February 8, the women of the congregation will hold the annual “Soup Saturday” ministry at 9:00 a.m., where containers of soup will be prepared and shared.

The Church Council of St. Luke’s will meet on Monday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m.
