Transforming Drainage: Managing Water to Improve Crop Yields and Water Quality

Announcing PARM’s November Webinar:

“Transforming Drainage: Managing Water to Improve Crop Yields and Water Quality”

Available LIVE on Thursday, November 30th at 10:00-11:15 CT (11:00-12:15 ET)

Do you or your grower clients utilize tile drainage without control structures? By not managing your drainage water, you could be losing money from reduced yield and nutrient losses that cause harmful algal blooms in the Great Lakes.

Challenges related to phosphorus and nitrogen losses through tile drains call for new strategies to manage drainage water. Avoid the negative economic, health and environmental outcomes that unrestricted drainage causes downstream and improve crop yields by watching our Drainage Water Management Webinar. This webinar will explore recent research on the potential for drainage management practices, such as controlled drainage and drainage water recycling, to retain spring rain and improve both water quality and crop yields.

You will receive 1.5 CCA CEU’s for watching this FREE webinar! (0.5 for nutrient management and 1 for soil & water management)

During this live event, you will learn about the basic drainage systems described above as well as ways that researchers, industry and conservation agencies are working together to advance their implementation. The webinar will also detail how drainage might effect ag retailer recommendations to growers along with the implications of pest, yield and herbicide carryover.

  • First, you will hear from Charlie SchaferCharlie is the President and owner of Agri Drain Corp., President of the Ag Drainage Management Coalition (ADMC), and Founder of Ecosystem Services Exchange (ESE). Charlie has held various offices as a Contractor and Associate Member of the Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA), served on the Executive Board of the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC) and National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), and is actively involved in the conservation and water quality industry.
  • Then, you will hear from Dr. Jane Frankenberger. Dr. Frankenberger works on agricultural water management and water quality in drained agricultural watersheds. She is a professor of agricultural and biological engineering at Purdue University, and leads the Transforming Drainage regional project to improve management of drained agricultural land.
  • Last, you will be able to ask your questions during our LIVE Q&A!
