The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter invites those experiencing the early stages of memory loss to meet Saturday, March 4, at the Toledo Museum of Art for an in-depth view of a special exhibition, “Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic.”
The 45-60-minute event will begin at 1 p.m. and is part of an on-going monthly program, called Meet Me at TMA, jointly sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association and the Toledo Museum of Art. Guests are invited to accompany the individual with memory loss.
This special exhibition takes a closer look at Kehinde Wiley’s signature portraits of everyday men and women that riff on paintings by the Old masters, replacing European aristocrats in those paintings with contemporary black subjects to draw attention to the absence of African Americans from historical and cultural narratives.
Participants are to meet at the Information Desk, just inside the Grove Place entrance to the main museum building. Galleries are fully accessible and wheelchairs are available at no charge. Parking is free for those taking the tour and parking tokens are available from the group leader.
Registration is requested but not required. For more information or to register, call the Alzheimer’s Association at 1-800-272-3900.
HCR Manor Care and Yark Automotive Group are also part sponsors.
