Antonio S. Cortez, Sr., 74, of Cygnet, died at Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.
He was born on June 5, 1942, in Findlay to the late Pedro and Simona (Sanchez) Cortez. He married Yolanda (Lugo) on March 8, 1971 and she survives.
Antonio is also survived by his sons: Alex (Kay) Cortez of Deshler, Johnny (Ufemia “Phyl”) Cortez of Hoytville, Larry (Kelly) Cortez of McComb, Antonio S. Cortez, Jr. of Cygnet and Henry Esquivel of Cygnet; his siblings: Mary (Hienio) Caseres of Ft. Myers, FL, Manuela Alva of Cygnet, Violanda (Alex) Martinez of Rudolph, Rosie (Eddie) Torrez of Napoleon, Margaret Cortez of Hoytville, Mario (Jackie) Cortez of Hoytville, Arnulfo (Carolyn) Cortez of North Baltimore, Connie (John) Fackler of Deshler, Christine (Herrera) Armando of Immokalee, FL and Felix (Teresa) Cortez of Findlay; his grandchildren: Anita, Andrea, Arica, Jenna, Abby, Violet, Micheala, Amelia Stevens, Genaro, Victor and Vinny Rodriquez; his great-grandchildren: Xavier, Ramiro, Alazaya, Analia Torres, Desmond Wright and 19 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Jesusita Sieber, Arturo Cortez, Alfonso Cortez, Josephina Cortez and Alicia Cortez.
Antonio retired from Cast Metals in Deshler. He loved music, dancing and mowing his lawn. In his spare time he enjoyed old western movies and doing word puzzles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, North Baltimore. Father Arthur J. Niewiadomski Celebrant. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, where a rosary service will be said at 7:00 p.m.
