Lutheran Church News — St. Luke’s (NB) & St. John’s (McComb)
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, North Baltimore
Ash Wednesday worship will begin at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18. The sermon will be the first in a series of six sermons based on Ephesians: “GRACE AND PEACE: Tasting Eternity.”
The traditional imposition of ashes on the forehead will be observed, to signify our sinfulness and mortality. A contemporary ceremony of washing the ashes will follow Holy Communion, to signify God’s forgiveness of sins, our baptismal call as disciples, and the ultimate victory over death promised in the Sacrament.
