Be in The Black Swamp: Outdoor Activities: Today & Tomorrow

Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.  ~Abraham Lincoln

Root Collar Excavation & Air Tool Demonstration

Sunday, April 28, 2019

2:30-4:30 PM
Hurricane Park, 400 South Main Street, Mt. Blanchard, Ohio

No registrations necessary, but a quick RSVP by e-mail to me will be helpful. Drop by even if you decide at the last minute.

Come enjoy the fun. Bring the family – there’s a playground nearby and plenty of space to run around.

Tawa Tree Service and Advanced Tree Health will show us how they correct deeply-planted trees with their air tools. They’ll even let you give the tools a try! It’s fun. These air tools were developed by the gas and oil industry to cut through soil without damaging underground lines. They work great for tree diagnostics and soil restoration. Cool stuff!

 Things to Bring

Eye protection (glasses, sun glasses, goggles, or safety glasses). Dirt will be flyin’

Ear plugs (optional…it gets a bit loud)

Gloves (we may get a mulching lesson too)

A generous Boy Scout donated 5 3-gallon, conservation stock trees and I’m planting them Monday morning at our Tree Survival School Learning Forest. Many of you have been interested in seeing these trees grown from seed, so here’s a chance. It won’t take us long to plant and the soils are perfect; So if you’re interested, bring a shovel and some gloves and we’ll get these babies in the ground, mulch them, and put up the deer/people protection. We won’t have running water, so bring something to drink.
