One of the most dramatic election cycles in modern history will come to a conclusion on Tuesday, November 8 as voters around the country pick a new President of the United States and decide which party will control Congress and state legislatures around the country.
Members of the Bowling Green State University community are invited to an election night watch party to track the election results from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8th, in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theatre (Room 206). The nonpartisan event is free, and food and drinks will be provided from 8 to 10.
Prizes will be awarded in two separate pick-the-winner contests. In one contest, guests will be invited to both pick the presidential winner and the winner’s number of electoral college votes. In another contest, guests will be invited to pick the winner and the winner’s percentage of the vote in Ohio’s U.S. Senate race.
This is the third watch party sponsored on the BGSU campus by student organizations united in promoting civic engagement on campus. Prior debate watch parties during the 2016 campaign season drew crowds over 200.
The election night watch party is sponsored by: Alpha Kappa Alpha; Alpha Phi; BG Undergraduate Political Science Association; Center for Community and Civic Engagement; College Democrats; College Republicans; International Relations Organization; Law Society; Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law Club; Undergraduate Student Government; and Young Government Leaders.
