The North Baltimore Board of Education held their monthly meeting last Tuesday, November 22 . All members were present.
The meeting began with a recognition of students Laura Keegan and Rachel Patterson who entered artwork in the annual Safety Calendar contest, sponsored by Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson’s office. Over 700 entries were entered this year.
Laura Keegan was selected as the winner of “Month of May photo” and Rachel Patterson received an “Honorable Mention” The official awards were presented during a ceremony at the Wood County Courthouse in October.
Other highlights and items of interest from the meeting:
# The Board approved a classified contract for Mary Casey, as EMIS Coordinator for the remainder of the 2016-2017 year. Her start date is January 3, 2017.
#Accepted the resignation of Babette Gallup, custodian. The job posting to refill the position will be next week.
#Treasurer Eve Baldwin reported that a $5000 donation the school had received from CSX a couple of years ago for the new ball fields, had finally been spent, for scoreboards.
#Approved recognition of an indoor track program from January through March 2017. All costs are the students responsibility.
#The High School Art Department recently upgraded their digital art software, adding Photoshop.
#Winter sports have kicked off

#Powell Principal Mr. Lange reported Parent-Teacher conferences were well attended
#Powell students had the opportunity to vote in a mock Presidential election. They correctly predicted the outcome of the real contest, as has been the case for the last 20 to 25 years.
The Board moved to Executive session at 6:35.
The next meeting is scheduled for December 20th. The January Organizational meeting will be January 12th at 5:30pm, followed by the regular Monthly meeting at 6:00pm.
