May Newsletter Troop 315
Summer camp has always been the troops key camp each year. We normally have 80% – 100% participation and earn several merit badges. With the early bird deadline here and only 4 scouts reigistered and paid, I hope all our troop can see the benefits of what scouts means and learning through outdoor adventure. . We are involved in many fundraisers each year and a scout can earn almost all their camp fees,
BSA Physicals.

Part C to be completed by a physician. Must be turned in by June 1st
May 7th Railroad merit badge
Scouts will be going to Toledo on Saturday for National Train Day and to earn the Railroading merit badge. We will meet at the scouthouse at 7:15am, Saturday morning and go to the Amtrak station for the day. Cost is $5.00 for lunch (Pizza) and we will finish up around 4:00pm . We currently have 4 scouts enrolled in the class and have room for a few more if interested. There are some prerequisites to the merit badge and we can go over them this Sunday at the meeting.
May 20 – 22 Armed Forces weekend
The scouts will be going to the Hancock Couinty fairgrounds the weekend and cook a G.I. Breakfast for our military vets. There is also a large military swap meet and re- enactments throughout the weekend. We will go over the menu this week and send home a grocery list . There is no cost and the event is a fundraiser for our scouts .
May 20 OA Brotherhood Ceremony
6 of our scouts are elgible for their Brotherhood advancement in Order of Arrow. Hank Matthes, Tyler Stimmel, Cody Gerdeman, Cody Switzer and Danny Crouse, plus myself. We will go to Camp Frontier on Saturday , May 21. Car leaves at 4:00pm. If your going, Let me know, I will drive. We will return that night…LATE… 11:00ish. You will need to renew your OA dues, $10.00 and $20.00 for the next sash and ceremony. $30.00 total
May 30 Memorial Day parade
Scouts traditionally march in the Memorial Day parade. Lineup will be at the fire station in full class A uniform on Monday morning . I don’t have an exact time yet but usually is at 8:30ish.
June 7 Monsoon Lagoon
We, as a troop, will go to Monsoon Lagoon on Tuesday, June 7. The plans are to meet at scouthouse at 9:30am. The park is open from 11:00 – 7:00pm and cost is $25.00 for the entire day of fun. Go carts, bumper boats, water slides and beach, putt putt. etc. We can either pack a sack lunch or pay for food at concessions. This event was voted on by the troop.
