The North Baltimore Area Chamber of Commerce Good Ole Summertime Day Festival will feature “Nationally Known ” Entertainment, as ‘The Chardon Polka Band’ takes to the gazebo, in Downtown NB, the last Saturday of July!

Chardon Polka Band

The Chardon Polka Band is nationally known in the polka circuit, traveling to Oktoberfests and polka events across the country. The group is unique in the polka world because of their youth, most of the members being in their twenties, and rock and roll attitude. While their hip take on the genre has been labeled “punk polka”, the band still knows how to please the most staunch and avid of old school polka fans.

In April of 2015, the REELZ Channel will air “Polka Kings”- a thirty minute reality sit-com based on the adventures and misadventures of The Chardon Polka Band.

In addition to their television series, the band has been featured nationally on NPR, Off-Beat America (HGTV), and Trip Flip (the Travel Channel), and on countless news programs across the country.

The CPD will be in town for GOST playing from 5:00 – 9:00 pm at gazebo, at the corner of Broadway and Main!

GOST One A Cord

One-A-Chord A Cappella Quartet is a veteran vocal blend of musical talent from Barnesville, Ohio.  Their spontaneous humor and audience interaction makes each performance delightfully unique.  Ah yes!   That’s right!  Bringing back the oldies from the 50’s and 60’s!

Turning Back Time is the latest CD available with 14 street corner style doo wop selections including an original title cut “Turning Back Time” written by the group’s own Terry McCort in 2008.  Their Shades of the Past CD was the national award winning Best A Cappella Doo Wop Album of 2005 so named by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America.   Also, “What’s Your Name?” was voted runner up for Best Doo Wop Song of 2005!

The popular group began in October 2000 as a gospel quartet.  The religious roots of the quartet are deep in the Church of Christ where a cappella singing (in chapel style without instrumental accompaniment) is the standard.  In fact, the very first CD released by O-A-C in 2003 was a popular gospel album entitled One Lord, One Faith.

One-A-Chord has opened shows for Little Big Town, the Vogues, the VanDells, Phil Dirt and the Dozers, the Fabulous Hubcaps, and Rick Kay and the Allnighters.  The quartet has sung the National Anthem several times for the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park and their oldies music was featured there on Turn Back the Clock Night in 2003.

Festival appearances include the Oglebay Festival of Lights, Stern Wheel Festivals in Wheeling and Marietta, and many others all over the tri-state area.  County fair appearances include Tyler, Wetzel, Wood, Wirt, Lewis, Nicholas, and Barbour Counties in WV, and Belmont and Monroe Counties in Ohio.

Tony Huntsman is the baritone for One-A-Chord giving the quartet its rich, full, blending sound.  He grew up in Quaker City, Ohio where his parents forced him to listen to oldies and doo wop daily.  Tony is the preacher at Cedar Avenue Church of Christ in Moundsville, WV where he lives with his wife Alana and children Brayden, Peyton, and Paige.

Terry McCort, the high tenor, is the most experienced singer in the group and most musically inclined.  A veteran of several country and classic rock bands in his younger days, Terry is a longtime fan of Gladys Knight and the Pips…and he has always wanted to be a Pip!   A father of four living in Barnesville with his wife Julie, he is president of Financial Investments and a deacon East Main Church of Christ.

Wes Wilson is the talented lead singer and youngest member of O-A-C.  He has been mistaken for Dale Earnhart, Jr. on numerous occasions but has never driven in a NASCAR race.  Wes is the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH, but he lives in Parkersburg, WV with his wife Roxanne and children Annistyn and Thatcher.  He is also a deacon at Reno Church of Christ.

Brad Wilson provides the foundation bass voice for the quartet when he can remember his riff which so frequently eludes him.  He is the proud father of Wes, a chip off the old block.  After 34 years of teaching and coaching in Ohio, Brad is the Recruiter for Graduate Education at Ohio Valley University in Vienna, WV.   He is an elder at East Main Church of Christ in Barnesville where he lives with wife Nancy.
