Celebrate the Arts during Fall ArtWalk in Downtown Findlay

(FINDLAY, OH, October 30, 2019) Residents and Visitors are invited to celebrate the Arts during the Fall ArtWalk on Friday, November 1 beginning at 5 p.m.

This fall’s ArtWalk features over 30 locations throughout Downtown Findlay.  Notable locations include the grand opening of a holiday pop-up boutique NEST 524 featuring gifts and locally made items, as well as the grand re-opening of Creative Fringe in a new location at 404 S. Main Street.  Creative Fringe sells the artwork and hand crafted items of over 20 local artisans and will now be presenting these items in a larger space.  The Lavender Hour, a yoga studio and wellness boutique, will be participating in their first ArtWalk after opening this summer.  Also participating in their first ArtWalk is Stout Cyclery, Stix Restaurant, and The City Club.  Located at The City Club will be local artist Cassaundra Giles who will be presenting her work, as well as the artwork of her two-year-old daughter, Maedelyn, whose artwork will be on sale benefiting the Pediatric Congenital Association – a group the Giles are familiar with as Maddi is a CHD survivor.  St. Andrews United Methodist Church will be the hosting hands-on children’s art activities, as well as living characters from Party with a Princess.  Awakening Minds Art will be hosting their weekly event, Drop & Date from 6 – 8 p.m., allowing potty-trained children to take part in free-draw as well as an organized activity while parents can spend time in Downtown.

In addition to local businesses hosting art, many local galleries will be open for the evening.  Thirteen artists in the Jones Building will be opening their studio doors for tours, demonstrations, and displaying their work for sale.  The Findlay Art League will be hosting their Fall Juried Art Show featuring work from their members, as well as pottery demonstrations throughout the night.

Live music can be heard throughout Downtown Findlay during ArtWalk, including at Alexandria’s, The Bourbon Affair, Findlay Brewing Company, Logan’s Irish Pub, and We Serve. Coffee, with Open Mic Night at Coffee Amici.  Vocalist/Pianist Melanie Klakamp will be playing at The Urban Market, Acoustic Guitarist Adrian Smith will be playing at Trends on Main beginning at 7:30 p.m., Composer Kai the Music Guy will be showcasing his talent at Objects of Desire Artful Living, and the band ReVerb will be playing from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Hancock Hotel.

ArtWalk is a semi-annual, family-friendly, free event that takes place the first Friday of May and November in an effort to promote the arts and integrate them throughout the Downtown Findlay business community.  This event was planned in collaboration between Visit Findlay: Hancock County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, Findlay Art League, and Jones Building Artists.

Printed maps of ArtWalk locations are available at the Visit Findlay Welcome Center, 123 E. Main Cross St., with limited copies at all participating locations.  Digital versions are available for reference or downloadable online.   For more information, go to VisitFindlay.com/ArtWalk.
