He was born May 9, 1949 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Charles A. and Helen M. (Fackler) Newell. He was previously married to Debra (Rayle) Gorman and they were later divorced.He is survived by his son, Charles (Erin) Newell, Hoytville, Ohio; grandchildren, Debra, Desiree and Kaylynn; sister, Carol Henry, Fostoria, Ohio; and brothers, Robert Newell, Celina, Ohio and Ronald Newell. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Smith and Linda Smart.
Charles was a Deshler High School graduate and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He retired from Keystone Foods, North Baltimore, Ohio and also worked for Yarnell Bros. Alfalfa Mill, Deshler and the D.S. Brown Company, North Baltimore. He was a member the Eagles Lodge, North Baltimore and the VFW Post, McComb, Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool, gardening and working crossword puzzles.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Rev. Jon Rhinehart officiating. Graveside military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
