Colleen P Sterling, 90

Colleen Phyllis Sterling, 90, of North Baltimore, entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore. She was born on July 12, 1928, in Findlay to the late Lorenz “Skip” and Mary E. (Bender) Spaeth.

She married Robert “Elmer” Sterling on October 21, 1951, and they later divorced. Colleen is survived by her sons: Kole “Kasey” (Mary) Sterling of Cygnet and John (Sally) Sterling of North Baltimore; her sister, Darlene (Denny) Toland of Cridersville, OH; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Spaeth; her sister, Carol Griffith; and her granddaughter, Tara Sterling.

Colleen was a 1946 graduate of Findlay High School. She retired from Norbalt Rubber company, and formerly had worked for Canning Company. She was a longtime member and secretary for St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Baltimore. She was very active in the church and had taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. Colleen was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and North Baltimore Tiger fan, but her greatest love was her family. She never missed her grandchildren’s athletic or academic events. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2018, at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Baltimore. Pastor Ralph Mineo will officiate. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township. Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 30 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.smithcrates.com.
