Concerns About Proposed FCC Regulations at Hearing

Latta Raises Concerns About Proposed FCC Regulations at Hearing

The Congressman also questions FCC Commissioners on how technological advancements would affect the Internet of Things

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) raised concerns at a Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology hearing about proposed Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and the negative effect they would have on small companies and customers. All five FCC commissioners testified at the “Oversight of the Federal Communications Commission” hearing.

Latta’s opening statement focused on proposed FCC rules regarding privacy requirements for broadband internet service providers and the commission’s set-top box proposal.

“I urge the Commission to continue to work with the industry to develop an alternative plan that will foster competition and innovation while protecting small TV providers from onerous regulations, offer consumers more choice and privacy protection, and safeguard programming content and license agreements,” Latta said during his opening statement. “Considering the Commission’s integral role in this marketplace, we must be watchful of the regulatory policies it places on the communications and technology industries.”
