BOWLING GREEN – Wood County Community Health and Wellness Center offers a variety of birth control methods for its patients, including long-acting, reversible options.
Long-acting options, also known as LARC, are typically 99-percent effective for an extended period of time without requiring any additional steps. Women of any age can use these forms of birth control, no matter how many times they have been pregnant. Most can be started during a patient’s first visit to the health center.
The health center offers a birth-control injection, given every three months. Another option is a small rod about the size of a matchstick that is inserted underneath the skin of the upper arm and is effective for four years.
Wood County Community Health and Wellness Center also offers the birth-control pill, patch and ring. Condoms are also available for free upon request.
Medicaid covers all forms of birth control. If you are uninsured or cost is a concern, the health center does not require insurance and can offer a sliding fee benefit based on household size and income.
The services offered at Wood County Community Health and Wellness Center include primary care, behavioral health and an on-site pharmacy. It also offers annual exams and STD testing, and will be expanding this year to add dental services.
