Cross Country Seniors Finish the Season with Career Bests

The Varsity boys went into Saturday’s District 1 Division III race ranked 11th and looked to improve on that ranking.  The boys led by Levi Trout (18:34) 30th place finish and senior Zion Cook’s career record of 18:42, 35th overall, helped the boys end the year with an 8th place finish, beating local rivals Carey and McComb.  Wyatt Mowery (19:00) and Gabe Gazarek (20:32) also had solid days with finishes of 41st and 60th.  Jordan Kimmel continued to improve as he set a career record of (20:37) finishing 62nd. Darrian Z. finished 6th for the team with a 22:31.  The boys had a top five average of 19:29, just a few seconds off last week’s performance at BVC’s.

The Varsity girls came out flying in Saturday’s District 1 Division III race, finishing 7^th only 39 points away from qualifying for regionals and beating league opponent Liberty Benton.  The girls finished the race with a 23:22 top five average, their best of the year.  Caitlin Schwartz led the girls with a 22^nd place finish with a time of 22:15, Lydia Hartman also broke the 23 minute mark with a 22:57 finishing in 33^rd.  Sydnee Smith had a personal record for the season with a 23:06 finishing 34^th and also in the top 40 for the girls was Senior, Rachel Crouse (38^th) who finished with a career record of 23:20.  Katie Dewulf crushed her personal record with a 25:16 finishing 56^th overall.  Lucy Trout just missed a career record, finishing in 69th with a time 28:01.
