The Cub Scouts of Pack #372 have earned $320 more dollars towards camp and other fun activities this past Sunday at the North Baltimore American Legion Banquet Room.
On January 21st, beautiful homemade cakes were judged and auctioned as a fundraiser for the pack. The scouts were to pair with an adult male to create their masterpiece. This fundraiser is held alternate years from the birdhouse auction in which scouts pair with an adult female (mom, aunt, grandma) to create a one of kind bird home or feeder.
The winners in multiple categories included Blaze Kline for “Most Patriotic”, Joseph Rose for “Most Lettering”, Levi Vanlerberg for “Best Scout Theme”, Isaiah Hernandez for “Tallest”, Daniel Hinkle brought home the certificate for “Most Colorful,” with his kit kat candy extravaganza, and Boden Lanham’s was the “Largest Cake”. Kale McDonald’s orange and black sheet cake won for “Best Tiger Theme”, and Gabe Berger had the “Largest Slant.” Donivan Boyce achieved the “Most Variety of Edible Items” and Jackson Cook represented the Lion Group with a beautiful bunch of cupcakes. Connor Coup took home the “Yummiest Looking”, and Trevor Capelle won the “Judge’s Choice.” Mitchell Novak took “Best in Show” for his rice krispy/cake combo derby car.
Awards were doled out as well. Noah Vanlerberg, Daniel Hinkle, and Brody Walter earned their “God and Family” award for their work with Pastor Susan Kronbach. The boys also received awards for their participation in the popcorn sale earlier this past fall. Gift cards, candy, and patches were the typical awards. Mitchell Novak earned top seller at $2,615 worth. That is a whole lot of popcorn, my friends. He walked away with an arm full of prizes.
Upcoming fun includes the Pinewood Derby race on February 11th at Powell School. Cheer on your favorite racers and see the development from box and a block of wood to a magical speed machine. The scouts are also collecting pop tabs so let’s get those turned in as well.
In March, The Webelos Two group will be crossing over into Boy Scouts during the Blue and Gold Ceremony, and spring camp follows shortly. Thanks to Pastor Susan Kronbach for being a guest judge and for working with the boys to complete their “God and Family” unit and thanks to all of the parents and leaders for all of your time.
