The Cub scouts of Pack #372 have now begun their annual popcorn sale. The sale was kicked off with a taste testing for our cub scout families at the American Legion on Sunday, September 14th.

Cubmaster, Eric Trout, explained all of the new incentives as the boys munched on such magical popcorn flavors as “caramel corn with sea salt, peanut butter cup, mud puddles, cheddar, kettle corn, white ruby, and white cheddar with peppercorn.” Delicious. I tried each and every cup. Ok, not the jalapeno cheese. I am not a spicy kind of lady. But I hear it is delicious too.

Each scout has an individual goal of raising $353.00, with the Pack’s goal of $3,500 profit. This helps defray costs for fun pack events like bowling, an evening swim party, and Camp Berry. There’s also the Pinewood Derby, and all of those patches to purchase for the Advancement Ceremonies and Blue and Gold.
Can’t wait weeks for your treats? Popcorn can be picked up weekly once it is paid for. Buy your popcorn, decide you need more, order more, repeat as needed.

And it isn’t too late to join in on the fun. Have a little guy in Kindergarten thru 5th grade? We’ll take them! Your future scout can learn everything from how to tie a knot, how to sharpen and hold a knife, or how to help at home and in the community. Every year we have kids that hook their first ever fish at camp or make their first smore. There are plenty of outdoor adventures and some service projects that benefit our community. Let’s support our scouts!
And there are still some adult volunteer spots left to fill! We are looking for a Den Leader for both the Tiger (first grade) and Wolf (second grade) packs. You will be required to complete and pass a background check, but you do not need previous scout experience to apply. Please see Eric Trout’s information at the end.
The boys not only earn gift cards for their sales this year, but will have money put in personal scout accounts, a pizza party for the winning den, the “throw a pie in your leader’s face incentive” and plenty of raffles and drawings for prizes. Joe Novak, scout dad extraordinaire, is also giving away Pinewood Derby assistance with cutting out, design, weights, and overall guidance for winning scouts. This is priceless, parents, trust me!!!
We need everyone in the community to spread the good word about scouts, support our fundraiser, and fill those vacant leader spots. Scouts is an amazing opportunity. Please take the word of this seasoned scout mom. For more information, contact Cubmaster, Eric Trout at (419) 257-3855 or (419) 262-3967 or [email protected]. The popcorn fundraiser runs now through October 28th.
