North Baltimore’s Dalton Ishmael (NB ’13) is continuing his wrestling career at the University of Findlay.
The Roughnecks, as the Oiler Wrestling Team is called, held wrestle-offs that determine positions on the team, this past weekend. One match of interest in NB was at 197 pounds, as junior Gerald (Tyler) Beck met Dalton Ishmael, who transferred to UF a year ago from Central Michigan. Beck, a two-year starter for the Roughnecks , was 11-17 last year. Dalton had battled Beck in the Ohio state finals their senior year of high school, with Beck beating Dalton in Overtime. Friday the outcome was different, and better for the local talent, with Dalton taking a decision by points over Beck, 5-3.
The Roughnecks will begin their season on Saturday, November 7 when they travel to Ypsilanti, Michigan for the Eastern Michigan Open.
On Wednesday, October 28, publication ‘D2Wrestle.com’ released their annual preseason rankings and The University of Findlay was well represented. The Roughnecks begin the season ranked 13th in the country. There are three other Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams in the top-20.
