Zimmerman School Winter Spruce-up

Many hands make light work as we ready this historic one-room school house for the Old-Time Holiday Open House. Find out about the building’s history and late 1800s education while we brighten the old classroom to shine like new and prepare for festivities. Register here.

CPR Certification at the Park

Thursday, December 3; 6:00 – 10:00 pm
Park District Headquarters
18729 Mercer Road, Bowling Green
Get certified in adult, child, and infant CPR and AED use, and learn choking relief. The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver® course is taught by certified Park District staff. Registration limited to 12 participants at least 14 years of age. Cost: $5 to cover certification card. Register here.

Winter Adventure Campout

Saturday, Dec. 5 – Sunday, Dec. 6; Noon – Noon
Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve

Join in on a two day, one night epic winter adventure! Planned activities include geocaching, fire-building, shelter-building, astronomy, night hike, campfire cooking, and more! We provide the meals and warm fire. Cost: $10; Friends of the Parks: $5; Register here.

Holiday Decorations Workshop

Saturday, December 5; 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Carter Historic Farm

Craft holiday ornaments then use them to decorate the historic farmhouse, 1930s-style. Make your own old-fashioned ornament to take home. Join us for the Old-time Holiday Open House to see visitors admire your handiwork while you enjoy festive treats. Register here.

Meet at Bostdorff’s Greenhouse Acres

Take a tour of new pre-market Poinsettia varieties. You can evaluate these new varieties and vote on the one you like best. You may be one of three lucky people to take one of these “winter roses” home with you. Register here.

Old-Time Holiday Open House

Saturday, December 12; 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Zimmerman Schoolhouse & Carter Historic Farm

Festivities at the Carter Historic Farm and Zimmerman include hot wassail, holiday treats, games, crafts, a sing-along & more. Activities are on-going, so you won’t miss any of the old-fashioned fun! No registration needed.
