Wood County Safe Communities announced Monday that there have been 8 fatal crashes this year to date, a decrease of 11 from this time last year.
In an effort to reduce distracted driving related crashes, Wood County Safe Communities will be at the Wood County Fair August 4-6 to raise awareness about safe driving.
On Thursday, August 4, we will be hosting the 4th annual Distracted Driving Awareness Day from 12:00pm- 8:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Police Building at the Wood County Fairgrounds.
The Distracted Driving Awareness day is a collaborative effort of the Wood County Safe Communities Coalition partners who desire to raise awareness to the residents of Wood County to lower the number of crashes and fatal crashes in our area. The day will be held in the memory of Brook Peterson, a Bowling Green High School Student who perished due to a distracted driving crash. Brook’s mother and father will be speaking at 6:00 pm about Brook and their experiences since that fateful day in 2008.
Wood County Safe Communities will offer games, prizes, and a driving simulator as part of the three day event. Please join us August 4-6 to learn more about distracted driving and crash prevention.
Always remember, it is important to drive safely and ignore possible distractions such as texting and video games.
