Donald E. Barringer, 85, died at 5:50 a.m., Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore. He was born February 21, 1931, to the late Claud and Rose (Mathias) Barringer. He married Mary N. Villani on May 2, 1952, and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2015.
Don is survived by his sons: Claud Barringer and Glenn Barringer, both of North Baltimore; his daughters: Donna (Randy) VanHorn of Columbus and Maria Priest of Fostoria; his brother, James Barringer of North Baltimore; his 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Barringer; and his sister, Rosetta Shaull.
Don was retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539 and F.O.E. #2633. He had volunteered with the North Baltimore Food Pantry and was a former member of the former Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Reverend Chris Cravens officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.
Visitation will be held 2 hours (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) prior to the service at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
