Donald Ray “Joe” King, 69, of Bloomdale

Donald Ray “Joe” King, 69, of Bloomdale died at 1:15 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on August 15, 1945 to the late Elwood and Blanche (Kerr) King. On February 15, 1996 he married Jerrie Miller and she survives.

He is also survived by nine children; Danni King Thornton of Limon, CO., Jessie (Don) King Hosley of North Baltimore, Chad (Marina) Miller of Kenton, Charity (Allen) Lewis Hart of Kenton, Michael King of Limon, CO., Rae King of North Baltimore, Breanna King, Rachel King, and Tori King all of Bloomdale. Donald “Joe” is also survived by a brother, Danny King of North Baltimore, sister, Jean (Jim) Powers of South Carolina, nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy (Alvin) Jones.

He was a 1965 graduate of North Baltimore High School. Donald “Joe” retired from D.S. Brown after 31 years of service. He was an avid sports fan of football, basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in football, softball, baseball, 4-H, soccer, theatrical plays, the family holiday backyard kick ball games and hunting with his grandsons.

Donald “Joe” was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post #539 and the North Baltimore Eagles. He was also an avid bowler at the Ten Pin lanes in North Baltimore along with being a Tournament bowler for the American Legion and The Eagles.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at New Maplewood Cemetery with Pastor Darwin Dunten officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post #539.
