Edith M. Hoskinson Gehrig, 96

Edith M. Hoskinson Gehrig, 96, of Findlay and formerly of St. Clairsville and Shadyside, OH, died at 6:13 a.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born on January 14, 1918, in Bellaire, OH to the late George Herbert and Nannie Kate (McIntuff) Spengler. She married Leonard Hoskinson on June 30, 1936, and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1981. She later married Robert Gehrig on January 14, 1992, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1996.

Edith was also preceded in death by her sons: Richard Hoskinson and J. Howard Hoskinson; her step-son, Robert Gehrig; granddaughter, Peggy Briggs; her siblings: Herbert McIntuff Spengler, Leeta Virginia Spengler Sells, Helen Louise Spengler Dunfee, Howard Franklin Spengler, George Luther Spengler, Harry Lee Spengler and Mary Ellen Spengler Lloyd Schuhbaur.

Edith is survived by her grandchildren: James Hoskinson, Paul Hoskinson, Cathy Thomas, John Hoskinson and Susan England; her great-grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan and Joshua Thomas, John Paul and Nicole England, Casey Polon, Katie, John Richard and Jamie Hoskinson, Ryan Briggs and Korin Garrison; as well as her great-great-grandchildren: Chloe, Easton and Greyson Thomas, Ashlee and Tyson Howard England; her daughter’s-in-law: Janet Hoskinson and Brenda Hoskinson; her stepson, William “Corky” Gehrig.

Edith was a former seamstress. She was very active in the Arts and Art Leagues, as well as the Senior Center. She formerly taught ceramics and was a former member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church in Shadyside, OH.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, OH 43947, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, with Rev. Randy Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH. Local arrangements have been entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
