Esther M. Vandersall, 94, of Stow, Ohio, formerly of North Baltimore, Ohio, passed away February 24, 2016 at Akron City Hospital.
She was born Sept. 23, 1921 to Eric and Etta (Henning) Smith. On May 2, 1942 she married Willard Vandersall and he preceded her in death 2006.
Esther is survived by two children, Larry (Kay Lynn) Vandersall, Sandusky, OH; and Linda Thomas, Kent, OH; Grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Monak, Jennifer (Tim) Taylor, Emily (Gregg) Gunselman, Jessica (Chris) Rotondo, and Joel (Tonya) Thomas. She had 9 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harold and Walter Smith; sisters, Helen (Nielson) Sellman, Annabelle (Rae) Hipsher, and Ruth (Smith) Vandersall.
Esther was a former dietitian for a nursing home in Bowling Green, worked at the Rexall Pharmacy in North Baltimore, and a bookkeeper for Len’s Implement when she retired.
She was an excellent seamstress, loved gardening, working on puzzles, playing cards and bingo. She very seldom missed a Cavaliers basketball game watching LeBron James.
By her request, her body was donated to the University of Toledo College of Medicine, Dept. of Neurosciences.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Baltimore as well as graveside rites.
