Esther R. Bateson, 99

Esther R. Bateson, 99, of Jerry City, died at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore. She was born on February 18, 1916, in Wood County to the late Henry and Addie (Tyler) Pierce. She married Cecil E. Bateson on March 31, 1934, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1982.

Esther is survived by her sons: Ronald (Vicki) Bateson of Mansfield, TX and Donald (Lynn) Bateson of Bowling Green; her eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband; her sons: Franklin Bateson and Milo Ray Bateson;her sisters, Alice Kagy, Viola Frankfather, and her twin sister, Esta Meeker; her brothers: Charles, Mark, Eb, and John Pierce.

Esther was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion Brethren Church, Wayne, OH, and the Senior Center in Bowling Green. She enjoyed dancing and traveling with her twin sister, Esta.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Reverend Gary Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Portage Township.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1745 Indian Woods Circle, Maumee, OH 43537 and/or Briar Hill Activities Account, 600 Sterling Drive, North Baltimore, OH 45872.
