FINDLAY, OHIO – May 4, 2015 – The Findlay Military Association will host its 28th annual Armed Forces Day Celebration and Military Show, May 15 to 17, at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1017 East Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio. The show is open to the public. There is a nominal admission fee and free parking.
Show times are Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 7 a.m. to noon. Camping is available for participants and vendors. There will be U.S. and German World War II battle re-enactments Friday and Saturday and demonstrations at the Revolutionary War re-enactors’ encampment – including the firing of a cannon. A Civil War re-enactor also will perform period demonstrations and set off cannon fire.
Saturday marks the Armed Forces Day celebration – starting with a G.I. Breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a special presentation of the Soldier of the Year and Veteran of the Year awards. Official opening ceremonies will commence at 10:15 a.m. A color guard will raise the U.S. flag and the Arlington High School Band will perform the Star Spangled Banner, followed by a performance by the Genoa American Legion Band. There will be a “Pass in Review” of military vehicles at 4 p.m. Ceremonies also will commemorate the 71st anniversary of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War – with a tribute to veterans and the more than 58,000 patriots who died in service to their country
Last year, more than 3,000 attended what has become more familiarly known as “The Findlay Show,” which features a display of nearly 150 military vehicles and an Armed Forces memorabilia swap meet – attracting 90 exhibitors from as far away as Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and Davenport, Iowa, to Horsehead, New York.
Findlay Military Association organizer and veteran John Cheney, Sr., said, “There is nothing like this Findlay show. Whether you need a fender for your Jeep, a field jacket, a pair of boots or just like to look at historic military vehicles, we have it all.”
This is the 18th year the event has been sponsored by the Findlay Military Association. For more information, visit www.findlaymilitaryshow.org
