Floyd James Smith, 71

Floyd James Smith, 71, of North Baltimore, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  He was born on November 4, 1946, in North Baltimore to the late Allen and Dorothy Irene (Mathias) Smith.  He married Jane Vanscoder in April of 1968, and they were divorced.  He later married Peggy (Newell) Hosler on June 23,1986, and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2014.

Floyd is survived by his daughters: Tammy Smith, Brenda Eaken and Cindy Hosler, all of North Baltimore, Penny Smith of Bowling Green, Peggy Sims of Rawson and Carmen Weihrauch of Tiffin; his brother, Jim (Sara) Smith of North Baltimore; sisters-in-law: Linda Smith of North Baltimore and Carolyn Henry of Cygnet; brother-in-law, Ozzy Newell of Celina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dale; brother-in-law,Charles; grandson, Jonathon; and great grandsons: Sebastian and Diamond.

Floyd retired from Norbalt Rubber Company after over 30 years, and was a former Auxiliary Police Officer for the North Baltimore Police Department. He was an avid fisherman, loved to go camping, he loved watching his Westerns especially the ones with John Wayne.  Floyd loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed playing cards and really loved to nitpick.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Jon Rhinehart officiating.  Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, and 1 hour (10 a.m. – 11 a.m.)prior to the service at the funeral home.
