Free “Cooking Matters” classes offered

The Ohio State University Extension office in Wood County is partnering with Share Our Strength to offer a six week FREE cooking class series to interested residents. The class is called Cooking Matters.

The class series will be offered on consecutive Fridays, beginning February 5th, from 10:00am until 12:00 noon and ending March 4th. There will also be a grocery tour on March 1st.

Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters empowers low-income families with the skills to stretch their food budgets, so their children get healthy meals at home. Cooking Matters serves families across America through hands on, six-week cooking courses; interactive grocery store tours; and mobile, online, and educational tools.

Participants learn to shop smarter, use nutrition information to make healthier choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals. They receive groceries to take home after each class, a cookbook, and a graduation certificate. To learn more visit CookingMatters.org.

Registration is already open, and there are still some seats remaining. Each class series is limited to 15 participants who are able to attend all six classes.

All classes are held in the demo kitchen at the Wood County Extension Office, 639 South Dunbridge Road, Bowling Green, Ohio. For more information or details, or to register for the series, please call 419-354-9050 and ask for Cooking Matters
