In today’s expensive world people are always looking for a way to cut costs. They try to eat out less or rent movies instead of going to the theater. The library can help you to save money in lots of ways. One way is with a program called Flipster, which allows you to read current magazines for FREE. Flipster can be used as an app on your phone or tablet or via a website on your computer. The only thing that you need to be able to access Flipster is a library card (also free!).
Monthly subscriptions can be expensive and even though you enjoy the articles what do you do with them when you are done? Not only that, but who hasn’t been waiting at a doctor’s office and all the good magazine are already taken? You could just pull out your phone and access Flipster and have the latest copy in your hands, minus the germs. Through the North Baltimore Public Library you can read 83 different magazines on Flipster!
Not only is it economical it is really easy too. First you download the app via Google Play or the App Store. Open the app and enter your library card number. Next browse the magazines to find what you want to read. When you find what you want to read click on the cover and tap download. This may take a minute but once it is downloaded you can start reading. If you are going to access Flipster via a computer the steps are a little bit different. You need to go to www.nbpubliclibrary.org first, then click on the Flipster link. This will take you to the Flipster website. From here you just browse for the magazine you would like to read and click on it. It will load and away you go.
With this being such an easy app to use as well as the variety of magazines available I am sure that everyone will find something they enjoy. If you do not see a magazine that you like just let us know and we can see about adding it to our collection. If you have any issues or questions please feel free call or stop by to ask us. All these instructions can also be found on the North Baltimore Public Library web site as well.
