The Friends of the North Baltimore Library, Inc. held their annual meeting January 12, 2015 in the Wolfe Community Room of the library. President Tonya Emahiser welcomed the group.
The two book sales held during the past year netted $927 which is a slight increase over the past year.
During 2014, the Friends purchased 3 computers, the Movie License, wii games and toys, after school snacks and a wireless router to improve the library and its programs. It was also reported that only 31 memberships have been received so far this year which is down considerably from the typical 50 memberships. It was noted that memberships are accepted all year and Roxie Emahiser is the new membership chairman.
Holly Emahiser and Cheryl Heilman will chair the two book sales. The dates for these sales are April 8-11 and October 7-10. These sales are the only fundraising events for the Friends and are only successful if the community donates their used books and come to buy books.
The group also discussed and accepted the list of projects for 2015 for the North Baltimore Library. They include
Summer Reading donation- $350
($200-children, $50-adult, & $100 teen)
Winter Reading donation- $200

After school snacks-$150
Movie License Renewal – $310

2 Yearbooks from High School – $ 90
Wireless printing capability($136/hr x 2) -$272

Of these projects the refrigerator is the largest expense but probably the most used. Anyone renting the Wolfe Community room is free to use this refrigerator. The present one has been well used but a new one will be a welcome addition.
