UPDATE – Helen E. Claybaugh, 93, Findlay, formerly NB

Helen E. Claybaugh, 93, of Findlay and formerly of North Baltimore, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on September 16, 2019, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore. 

Helen E. Claybaugh, 93, of Findlay and formerly of North Baltimore, passed away at 1:55pm on September 16, 2019, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.

She was born on January 8, 1926, in Bloom Township, Ohio, Wood County to the late Paul and Nancy (Feasel) Klingensmith. She married Gail Claybaugh on June 25, 1944 and this past June they celebrated 75 years of marriage. 

Helen is survived by her husband, Gail of Findlay; her daughters: Mary Jane McCartney of Van Buren, Sue (Tom) Perry of Dayton, Nancy (Jim) Wymer of North Baltimore, and Lisa Claybaugh of Bowling Green; her sisters:Betty Jane Fegley of North Baltimore, and Mary Lou (Tom) Coakley of Tipp City; her grandchildren: Clay (Beth) McCartney, Guy (Chasity) McCartney, Will (Kelly) McCartney, Laura (Craig) Neely, Kathy (Travis) Carr, Beth (Seth) Marsh, Matthew (Abbie) Wymer, and Adam Wymer; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.   

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Jo Ann Kelley and Ila Jean Klingensmith; a son-in-law, Carey “Skip” McCartney.

Helen was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Baltimore. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Baltimore, with Pastor Ralph Mineo officiating. Burial will be in Ten Mile/Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore and for 1 hour (10:00-11:00am) prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Evagelical Lutheran Church, North Baltimore. Online condolences may be expressed at www.smithcrates.com.
