At the Jungle Friday Night…
With just over 5 minutes to play in Friday night’s BVC encounter in the North Baltimore High School gym, the Tiger Boys held a 10 point lead over the Leipsic Vikings. During the next 9 minutes, including the 4 minutes of overtime, NB would be outscored approximately 23 – 3.
For the game, NB was out-shot at the free throw line by a count of 14 of 25 for Leipsic, to just 6 of 13 for the Tigers, and that was the difference in this game, which NB led most of the way.
A solid and consistent Viking comeback in the fourth quarter, combined with cold shooting by NB, and the big man out with 5 fouls, would eventually have the game tied at the end of regulation. Then, Leipsic outscored the home team, 13 – 0 in the overtime.
Chad Wright scored the most points for NB, but spent much of the game in foul trouble, He hit for 11 points. Sean Watson scored 9 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead NB. Julian Hagemyer and Brody Naugle hit 6 points each. Noah Brian added 5, Chase Naugle 4 and Taylor Bishop 2 points.
NB committed 19 turnovers, to just 8 for Leipsic, who improved to 2 – 2 overall and 2 – 1 in the BVC. The Tigers slip to 3 – 3 overall and 1 – 2 in the BVC.
