Historical Society Furnishes Copy of 1923 Main Street Photo to Local Restaurateur

The North Baltimore Ohio Area Historical Society (NBOAHS) has begun a program to furnish interested Main Street business owners with reproduction photos showing their business buildings approximately 90 to 100 years ago.

On November 18, 2014 Mike Julian, North Baltimore Mayor and Historical Society member, presented the first of these photos to Steve Shinsky, owner of Crossroads Café, the current business occupying 127 South Main Street.

Any business owner wishing to have a historical reproduction photo of their building should contact the Historical Society at 419-257-2266. The NBOAHS provides the photos at no charge, although a small donation to cover printing costs is appreciated.

In 1923, Loe’s Grocery occupied the first floor of 127 South Main Street. The second floor contained the offices of M. E. Brown, an insurance salesman, notary public, and loan officer. The automobile is decorated for the October 1923 B&O Golden Jubilee parade which celebrated the fifty-year anniversary of the railroad coming to North Baltimore.
