Howard Allen Peterson Sr., 85

Howard Allen Peterson Sr., 85, of North Baltimore passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018. He was born on January 12, 1933 in Tontogany, Ohio to the late Earl and Helen (Ruth) Peterson. He married Shirley Rife and they later divorced. He later married Thelma Haynes on July 20, 1972 and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2016.

Howard is survived by his sons: Dennis (Darla) Peterson of Findlay, Mark(Laurie) of Findlay, and Craig Rudolph; step-sons: Edward (Sandy) Updike of Hamler and Jack McGiffin; son-in-law Cygnet; Harold (Patricia) Haynes of North Baltimore; and step-daughters; Donna Granger of Harrisburg, Ohio and Mary (Richard) Ward Findlay; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and his two sisters: Susan Hodpp of Sideville, Kentucky and Sharon Hudecek of Grand Rapids, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his son’s: Rick and Howard Jr; step-daughter: Sarah “Becky” McGiffin; son-in-law: John Granger; brothers: Fred, Roger, Ronnie, and Jim; and his sister: Julia Williams.

Howard served in the Army from 1950-1953. He retired from Norbalt Rubber Company in 1995 after 26 years. He was a lifetime member of D.A.V. #43, V.F.W. #5645, North Baltimore American Legion Post #539, and North Baltimore Eagles #2633.

He volunteered for North Baltimore Food Pantry for years. He enjoyed Nascar, Ohio State Football, fishing, camping, dirt track racing, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play their sports. His greatest love of his life was his family.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore where the family will receive friends from 11:00 Wednesday until the time of service. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post #539.
