To honor Rachael and what she worked and stood for, an award is handed out in her memory during the Senior Assembly at the end of the year.
Rachael Mauk, a 2004 graduate of North Baltimore High School, was highly involved in extracurriculars while at NBHS. She spent time as an athlete, a musician, a scholar, but most importantly an outstanding student and citizen of North Baltimore. Her life was tragically cut short on March 12, 2015 from a prolonged kidney disease.
This award is given to an outstanding senior female scholar-athlete, voted on by a committee of administrators, teachers, and coaches. The award is based on academics (2.7 GPA or higher), athletic ability (2 varsity awards as a senior), and what it means for someone who, like Rachael, exhibits the true spirit and determination of a Tiger.
This year’s recipient participates in volleyball, basketball and softball. She also donates her time to Paws for a Cause and Student Council. She will end her senior year a 3 sport Varsity Letter winner with countless amounts of league and district honors. Her coaches will agree that she is a vocal captain who takes her role seriously, cares about her team and has a ferocious competitive spirit: she is one of a kind.
Congratulations Katelyn Weinandy.
