James F. Santmire, 80, of North Baltimore, died at 4:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.
He was born on March 2, 1935, in Bairdstown, OH, to the late Merle and Agnes (Starr) Santmire. He married Dora Dodge on May 27, 1957, and she preceded him in death.
James is survived by his son, John (Mary) Santmire of Findlay; his daughter, Jeanne Lovejoy of Findlay; his sisters: Martha White and Maxine (John) Copus, both of Findlay; his grandchildren: Javis, Robin, Amanda, Erica and A.J.; his great-grandchildren: Misty, Carlos, Alana and Jaime. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Santmire; and his son-in-law, Alvin Lovejoy.
James was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the Amvets and V.F.W.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Chris Cravens officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 538. Visitation will be held 2 hours (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.) prior to the service at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
