James P. Zeigler, Sr., 74, of North Baltimore, died on December 9, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on March 9, 1940, in Frazeysburg, OH, to the late Merl C. and Elda (Hindman) Zeigler. He married Mary Lou Ives on January 9, 1960, and she survives.
Jim is also survived by his son, James (Betty) Zeigler, Jr. of North Baltimore; his daughters: Leisa (John Harden) Zeigler, Kimberly (Michael) Ernsberger and Susan (Greg) Waaland of North Baltimore; his sister, Joni (Mark) Bretz of North Baltimore; his beloved grandchildren: Joe (Jess Gildersleeve) Gill, Abbi (Kyle) Hood, Jessica (Charles Thornton) Zeigler, James (Jamie Barnett) Zeigler, John (Kristina Shutzberg) Zeigler, Samantha (Seth Roberts) Ernsberger, Phillip Ernsberger, Megan Ernsberger, Kaitlyn Leadey and Kealeigh Leadey; and his great-grandchildren: Olivia Gill, Jayme Zeigler, Anthony Stevens, Maddilynn Zeigler and Ruth Thornton.
Jim retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company after 34 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist, North Baltimore and the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. Jim enjoyed camping, traveling, sports, the company of friends, but his greatest joy and love in life was spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014, at the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist, North Baltimore with Reverend Susan Kronbach officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore.
