James Reichenbach, Sr., 89, of North Baltimore, died at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Bowling Green Manor. He was born on July 5, 1926, in Bluffton, OH to the late Daniel and Celia (Cahill) Reichenbach. He married Wauneeta “Bunny” Corwin on May 7, 1948, and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2009.
Jim was a retired welder for Garwood Industries. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served our country in World War II. He was a lifetime member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539, and V.F.W. #1148 in Bowling Green. He had been an active participant in the National Red Cross Relief efforts, and was the former head of the North Baltimore Disaster Control.
Jim was very instrumental and active in North Baltimore Little League Baseball.
Jim is survived by his sons: James Reichenbach, II of Silver Springs, FL and Greg Reichenbach of North Baltimore; his daughter, Joyce (Jim) Sprague of Mancelona, MI; his sister, Jeanette (Karl) McCartney of North Baltimore; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his sons: Robert Corwin and Jerry Reichenbach; his daughter, Jolene Woodruff; his brothers: Howard, Lincoln, Marvin and Robert Reichenbach; his sisters: Virginia “Jane” Buchanan, Katheryn Rose and Bernice Griffith; a granddaughter and 2 great-granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2016, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Jon Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.
