Jane Spoerl Announces Intent to Run for Treasurer

Jane Spoerl, of Plain Township, has announced she is running for Wood County Treasurer in the 2016 election. Spoerl intends to succeed Jill Engle, who has announced she will not seek another term.

Spoerl has 35 years of commercial and retail banking experience with 30 years of branch management including public funds investment.  Spoerl managed banking offices in Bowling Green, Weston and Grand Rapids over the years for Mid Am Bank, Sky Bank, and most recently Huntington National Bank. She developed a reputation in all those communities for outstanding customer service. Her experiences include working with numerous townships, cities and villages over many years to successfully manage and invest significant public funds.

Spoerl is currently a Financial Representative with Modern Woodmen of America, and has earned the designation of FIC at Modern Woodmen and is a graduate of the Company’s Career Development School in Rock Island Illinois. Spoerl has also attended American Bankers School of Marketing, Mid Am Bank Leadership School, carries her Life and Annuity license as well as Series 6 Investment license with appointments in Ohio and other states.

Spoerl is a lifelong resident of Wood County. She is married to Doug Spoerl and they have two children. Together, the Spoerls have managed their family farm and other agricultural businesses.

Spoerl is committed to the Wood County community and is an advocate for volunteering. She currently serves on the OSU Extension Women in Ag committee, delivers Wheeled Meals through the Wood County Committee on Aging and is a member of the Otsego Endowment Fund Board. She serves as treasurer for the Grand Rapids Area Cub Scouts, is a member of Weston Church of Christ, Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, Grand Rapids Art Council, Historical Society and Greenwood Chapter Order of Eastern Stars. Jane has also served in the past as a board member of Wood County Cancer Society.

Spoerl looks forward to the opportunity of serving the Wood County community as Treasurer.
