John E. (Hoss) Shepherd, Sr., 71, of Bairdstown passed away at 8:18 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on September 8, 1943, to the late Orval and Zola Shepherd. He married Mary Herringshaw on June 20, 1967 and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2007.
John is survived by his sons: John E. (Kim) Shepherd, Jr. of Bairdstown and Pete (Carmen) Shepherd of Cygnet; his daughters: Mary Sue (Bill) Cook of Whitmore Lake, MI, Pam Shepherd of Nebraska and Leonda Shepherd of Nebraska; his brothers: George Shepherd of Nebraska, Carl Shepherd of Iowa and Dale (Teresa) Morgan of Nebraska; his sisters: Rose Leonard of Dayton and Betty Hoss of Nebraska; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Shepherd; a daughter, Shirley Ann Shepherd and a grandson, baby John.
John was retired from Chrysler where he was a Furnace Technician. He was a member of the F.O.E. in North Baltimore and the Moose Lodge in Bowling Green. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Chuck Harden officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to Smith-Crates Funeral Home.
