Gov. John R. Kasich signed the following piece of legislation into law: Am. Sub. H.B. 7 (Buchy) – regarding school testing, assessments, funding and more.
This law prohibits individual student scores from certain elementary and secondary achievement assessments administered for the 2014-2015 school year from being used to determine promotion or retention or to grant course credit, revises state scholarship program eligibility, makes changes regarding the administration of high school end-of-course examinations, and declares an emergency. Requirements of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee are not impacted by H.B. 7.
