A heads up for all NB parents and pet owners. There was a sick raccoon on Main Street this morning as the children were heading to school.
North Baltimore Police was alerted, with Chief Allan Baer arriving in just a few minutes to take care of the situation.
It is possible that this was the second sick raccoon in two days in the village.
Warn your children that raccoon’s are not fluffy, fun cats. Also make sure your pets/animals are vaccinated and you are checking their areas and keeping tabs on them.
Call NB PD 419-257-2181 if you encounter sick wildlife.

Distemper
Thanks for sharing this info!! The scary part was the raccoon we encountered did not appear “aggressive”, just very off, and actually walked towards us at times, which was very concerning as you could see a child thinking it was okay to approach the animal. It was clear to us it was ill, but it would not necessarily seem to be to a young child.
Thank you again!! So glad we have you in our community!!
