The North Baltimore Lady Tiger Basketball team ended their season, in Ottawa Thursday night, playing their game… tough, gritty, always on the hustle and never giving up! But the Lady’s from Arlington (22 – 3) would not be denied, holding off NB, with pretty much unbelievable shooting from beyond the 3-point arc!
The Devils would hit 10 of 22 3-pointers shots, several of which were drained from several feet beyond the 19′ 9″ 3-point line (we’re talking NB distance on a couple!). NB would be making a run to cut the Arlington lead to 6 or 5 or 7, but the BVC runners-up would respond, with a couple of 3’s and a big play in the paint, to push the lead out to 10 or 12 or 14. But every time, NB would respond with a rally, digging deep for one more rally. Finally however, the Tigers ran out of clock and one more rally was not enough, dropping out of the District tournament by a score of 82 – 66. This was NB’s first District appearance since 2004. Arlington is the 8th ranked D – IV team in the State of Ohio.
Alivia Light scored 22 points (14 of 14 free throws) to lead NB, along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, she did not take a 3-point shot in the game. Bailey Boyer hit 7 free-throws en route to scoring 17 points. Kiah Powell had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Cassidy Hisser scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds. Makayla Light added 6 points, Katelyn Weinandy 5 points and Catlin Cook 1 point.
Coach Adam Burris: “It was a very hard fought game and the girls never gave up! We are very proud of them for that! We love what the seniors did for the program and we just love them in general, they will be greatly missed! Thanks again for all the support from the community!”
