The North Baltimore High School Lady Tiger Basketball team took another big step in a successful season, knocking off the Leipsic Vikings, who were tied for the Blanchard Valley Conference lead with Arlington.
Leipsic would only lead the game for a minute or so at the beginning, before NB took the lead and control of the game with a 31 – 16 halftime lead. NB kept the much taller Vikings at bay in the 3rd quarter. But in the 4th NB let Leipsic hang around and the hot shooting Vikings tried to make a game of it, but the Tigers finished them off down the stretch, behind the play of leading scorer Olivia Frost (19 points) and leading rebounder Kiah Powell (8 rebounds, 13 points). The final score was 58 – 47.
NB also got strong games defensively from Alivia Light (3 steals, 13 points, 2 assists) and Lacey Trumbull (6 points and a steal). Bailey Boyer added 4 points and Katelyn Weinandy hit a 3 – pointer.
NB is now 11 – 1 and 5 – 1 in the BVC.
