The North Baltimore High School Lady Tiger Basketball team picked up a non-conference win in their season opener in The Jungle, beating Otsego 56 – 52.
The ladies had fairly balanced scoring and great 3 – point shooting (5 of 6) by Bailey Boyer, to stay close to the Knights for three quarters, then pulled out the win down the stretch, with clutch play by Lacey Trumbull and excellent foul shooting overall.
Trumbull led NB with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists; Boyer hit the 5 treys for 15 points, along with 4 rebounds; Olivia Frost hit 9 points, had 5 rebounds, a steal, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots; Kiah Powell scored 9 points, a steal and a blocked shot; Lindsay Davis scored 4 points, with one rebound and one assist.
NB hit 14 of 17 free throws, including 6 of 6 by Trumbull in the fourth quarter. The Tigers did commit 21 turnovers, to just 10 for Otsego. NB was out rebounded 29 – 23.
Madeline Asmus and Morgan Smoyer scored 14 points each to lead Otsego (0-1).
The ladies travel to Fostoria for a non-conference game with St. Wendelin on Tuesdays (6:00 JV start). On Thursday NB will open Blanchard Valley Conference play AT Hopewell-Loudon.
In the junior varsity game North Baltimore picked up the win 52-34.
