The North Baltimore High School Lady Tigers dropped a Blanchard Valley Conference game at Leipsic (12-1, 6-1), 54 – 38.
Tiger Coach Adam Burris said, “Despite the outcome, this was one of the hardest fought games we played all year and did not give up – ever. I was very proud of how the girls handled themselves and how they never gave up. We just had too many turnovers and gave up too many offensive rebounds in the 1st half.
Burris continued, “We cut their lead down to 6 in the 4th quarter, with about 3 minutes to play. But, Leipsic came down and made a timely 3 pointer, then we committed a costly turnover, then they answered with another 3, extending the lead to 12! The closest we would get after their little run was 10. At that point we started to foul to put them on the line and the lead got to 16. The coach concluded, “This was one of those games where the score did not really indicate how close the game really was.”
Scoring for NB were Kiah Powell with 13 points, Lacey Trumbull with 12, Lindsay Davis for 10 and Bailey Boyer 3 points.
Leipsic, ranked 10th in the state D-IV, is now 12 – 1 and 6 – 1 in the BVC. The Vikings were led by Kelly Nadler who scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Leipsic won the Junior Varsity game 40 – 36.
The Lady Tigers are in action next Tuesday, January 20, at Lima Perry High School. JV tips at 6:00.
