WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement after Federal regulators announced substantial premium increases for people purchasing health insurance on Healthcare.gov.
“It’s very evident that promise after promise made by Obamacare proponents have not been kept. However, it’s hard to find as damaging a falsehood as what the public was told about the cost of their health care. While many said that premiums for the typical American family would decrease — some said by as much $2,500 a year — we’ve instead seen premiums skyrocket year after year. Even worse, the recent announcement that premiums will increase by 25% on Healthcare.gov show that the problem is getting exponentially worse.
“While many of these problems were predicted by opponents of the law, it’s still no solace to Ohio families that are being harmed. Problems like premium hikes, higher deductibles, and the loss of health care plans are putting people in financial binds. It’s crystal clear that this law is unworkable and needs to be replaced with patient-centered health care, as outlined by the Better Way plan put forward by House Republicans.”
