As a former Council Member I would like to take a moment to weigh in on the subject of the “Open Checkbook” program offered through the State Ohio.
I called for North Baltimore to join this program nearly 2 years ago but yet to no avail at this time. The program basically just puts the Village Checkbook on the website for all to see where there tax dollars are being spent and provide complete transparency.
From the start of the conversations on this subject it met resistance from some Council members and some in Administration positions. I know there is nothing to hide, as the current Village Finance Director and his assistants do an awesome job, so let’s simply open it up.
Also I believe that all reports, agendas, meeting minutes, from all depts within the Village be put on the Village Web site in a very timely manner. It’s the electronic age, these items should be immediately uploaded to the Web site as soon as they are available. In this day and age, the residents should not have to go to a meeting, to know what is going on. Let’s have this discussion.
Respectively, Bill Cameron
